This is another favorite drone shot from Iceland taken last September. From the ground, this river seemed mundane, not even worth the effort of taking my camera backpack out of the van. When my local guide brought my photo tour group to this spot, at first I thought, why are we here? There’s nothing to shoot. Standing at the river’s edge it was impossible to see the phenomenal interplay of the serpentine and dendritic rivulets with the black lava sandbars. But as soon as my drone was just 50 feet above the ground, I was blown away by the astonishing patterns that can only be described as art in nature. I eliminated most of the sky because it was solid white and angled the camera to fill the frame with the graphic design. The lens on the drone I had last year was 22mm, and the recorded settings were 1/800, f/2.8, and 200 ISO. By changing altitude and rotating the drone, I was able to take many remarkable images from this one location.

Jim - Barb, I just fixed it. All the info is there, now. Thanks for the heads-up.

Jim - I'm not sure what happened, Barb. This is Iceland from a drone.

Barbara Vickers - Hi Jim, I don't see your usual info about location and settings. I want to guess (based on my limited experience of travel and seeing photos) 1. China. 2. Russia. 3. S. America, specifically southern Chile.
