This is a wild crab-eating fox, a canid endemic to Central and South America. I had never seen one before, so I was thrilled to be able to get closeup shots to it. I used the articulating LCD screen on my camera to help take this low angled perspective. I shot this with a 500mm focal length, and the settings were 1/400, f/7.1, and 2000 ISO. Even though this is the beginning of rainy season here in the Pantanal, we have had days with direct sun. Fortunately, I had a cloud cover when I took this picture. Diffused light makes all the difference.
