This is Deadvlei, the remains of an ancient lake in the Namib Desert of Namibia. The dead trees, which are believed to have died 600 - 700 years ago due to lack of water, make great photographic elements because they are so graphic. At night, the desert's colors, vibrant during the day, become muted and the night sky takes center stage. I shot this with a Sigma 14mm f/1.8 wide angle, and the settings were 20 seconds, f/2.8, and 2500 ISO.
