Happy Christmas Eve! This is Nopi, my little rescue kitten, celebrating her first Christmas with plenty of Christmas spirit dressed in the latest holiday fashion. Thank goodness my wife and I never had a daughter because we'd go bankrupt -- we'd have to build a special addition on the house because Dia would buy so many clothes for her! As you can imagine, getting a picture like this isn’t exactly easy. I photographed Nopi on a white comforter using only window light because I didn’t want the flat lighting typical of on-camera flash. The tradeoff for that is the necessity of a high ISO, but given the quality of the Canon R5 and the post-processing software to mitigate noise, my 8000 ISO setting wasn’t a problem. My other settings were 1/250 and f/6.3. I kept the shutter high because I was using a long lens (100-500mm) and because Nopi was moving all over the place. Her hat kept falling off, but with the help of my wife and a fast frame rate, I eventually got what I wanted.
