This is the 'Palace of the Nation', i.e. government building, in Abu Dhabi. The design of the tiles in the front makes a dramatic foreground, so I emphasized the pattern by using a wide angle lens. In this case I selected the Sigma f/1.8 14mm. By placing the camera about 2 feet from the immediate foreground, the graphic design was rendered disproportionately large compared to the background. This is a look I use over and over again with a variety of subjects. The settings were 1/1000, f9, and 250 ISO. Note that even in midday light, image works. I don't think this would have been as good a shot when the sun was close to the horizon.
