I photographed this little girl of the Kondh tribe in India in the shade of building in her village. I avoided the harsh midday sun this way, and the diffused light prevented her from squinting. I used a diffusion filter to soften the image, and then in post-processing I added some sharpening, mostly around the eyes. I took this with a 105mm focal length, and the settings were 1/125, f/5.6, and 800 ISO. She was only 4 years old and I think she was a bit frightened by a strange tourist pointing a big camera at her, even though she had the security of her mother right next to her, but she gave me an expression I've always loved.
