This is Sisteron, a beautiful village in France. In my opinion, the most beautiful time to photograph architecture, cityscapes, and even small villages is at twilight because color combinations -- like the cobalt blue sky and warm, artificial lights -- are saturated and particularly beautiful when juxtaposed together. Dark shadows hide things that don't contribute to the pictures -- like trash and power lines -- and usually the highlights of the scene are well illuminated. My settings for this image were .5 seconds, f/5.6, and 200 ISO. With long exposures, colors that may seem dull to the eye become exceptionally rich in the digital file, making the scene more attractive than it appears in reality.
