This is the spectacular spiral staircase in the Monastery of Melk about an hour west of Vienna, Austria. Unfortunately, photos are no long allowed in this magnificent monastery and cathedral. I have no idea why organizations prohibit photographs; it makes me angry that they do so. In the past, tripod were prohibited, which is understandable, but the prohibition against photography seems to have no rationale. I took this with a Canon 14mm wide angle lens, and the settings were 1/60, f/4.5, and 400 ISO. Note the extensive depth of field even though I was shooting with a fairly large lens aperture. I used natural light, and in post-processing used the 'vibrance' slider in ACR to embellish the colors.
