This is a drone shot of soy sauce vats in Hanoi, Vietnam. It takes weeks for the sauce to ferment the correct amount. From ground level, this is a nice shot. But from above, the pattern created by this unique perspective is quite striking. The DJI Air 3S drone was hovering 64 feet above the vats and the female worker, and my settings were 1/730, f/2.8, and 800 ISO. I’m not sure why the shutter speeds on a drone don’t comport with the standard speeds we use on dSLR and mirrorless cameras, but it really doesn’t matter as long as the pictures are sharp. I used a 70mm focal length lens for the shot; this means the drone wasn’t hovering too closely to the woman. I didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable. Just like with the incense factory picture I posted yesterday, it had been raining for hours, but when we arrived here the rain stopped.
