This huge structure is called the Falkirk Wheel in Falkirk, Scotland. It is designed to lift a boat from the pond at the bottom of the structure up to the top and into a canal waterway. The boat can then cruise to nearby cities. The wheel is an engineering marvel constructed in 2002. There is no activity at night, but the artificial lighting gives the scene a science fiction-like appearance. My camera settings were 5 full seconds, f/5.0, and 200 ISO, and I obviously used a tripod. The shot was captured on a 24mm focal length, and in post-processing I used contrast, clarity, and vibrance to make the colors dynamic.
