This is a rare Dragon chicken that's bred mostly in Vietnam. In one of the villages I visited a man had two or three of these and I was intrigued. Imagine, this is a distant cousin to a bald eagle and a snowy owl! I spent some time in Photoshop making the background more muted than it was originally. Some of the out of focus bamboo sticks were a little too light for my taste; I found them to be distracting. Now the background doesn't take attention away from that unusual face. I shot this with a 105mm focal length, and the settings were 1/125, f/5.0, and 2500 ISO. In the past when we all shot film, this kind of high ISO was unheard of. I took pictures of animals with Fujichrome Provia 100. Such a low ISO, by today's standards, would have forced me to use flash in this low light situation. Now it's a simple matter of raising the ISO without worrying about noise because we can eliminate it with Topaz DeNoise AI.
