One of the favorite model shoots I do during my Carnival in Venice photo tour is posing costumed models with a beautiful harp. I rent the use of the harp from a harpist in Venice, and she and her father wheel this very expensive instrument through streets, over bridges, and then up two long flights of stairs to place it perfectly in the 'music room' of a 16th century palace, now a 5-start hotel. The warm lighting from the sconces add mood and atmosphere, and in this particular shot the white costumes contrast beautifully with the muted colors of the medieval decor. My settings for the shot were 1/60, f/4.0, and 1600 ISO, and I used a 20mm focal length. Despite the low light atmosphere, I hand hold the camera to give me maximum flexibility is shooting from several different angles. My next Venice tour is from Feb. 7 - 13.
