When ringed kingfishers dive for fish, they hit the water at about 25 miles per hour. Their beak is so streamlined that it silently cuts through the water so fish are not alerted until it’s too late. The splash that’s created often obscures the bird when being photographed, but in this case I captured the beginning of the dive. My settings were 1/3200, f/5.0, and 6400 ISO. This image is significantly cropped, so I used Topaz Gigapixel AI to increase the resolution and then Topaz DeNoise AI and Topaz Sharpen AI to restore quality.

Linda Purdom - That is an amazing photo. I doubt anyone has ever caught the bill just as it goes in the water. Wow!!
