King vultures in the rainforest

These are king vultures I photographed from a blind in Costa Rica. When shooting from a blind, for most birds you don't have to be completely hidden. As long as the birds can't see your form, and as long as you're not moving very much, any makeshift blind works. Usually for birds in flight, I use a shutter speed of 1/3200. However, for large birds whose wings don't flap as fast as small birds, the shutter can slow to 1/2000 and you can still expect sharp pictures. This is particularly helpful in low light situations. The camera settings were 1/2000, f/5.0, 3200 ISO.

Colleen Bevacqua - I think I was at the same blind but I didn’t get the action you did. I’m not fond of vultures but I like yours.
