Every summer the fields of Provence, France are ablaze with color. Endless rows of lavender are a photographer's dream, and when you can include a strong element like a farm house, an ancient ruins, or a graphically pleasing tree, the pictures are especially compelling. This is essentially landscape photography, and that means -- according to my own sense of aesthetics -- complete depth of field is necessary to insure that all of the beautiful detail in the scene is sharp. When a telephoto lens is used, and the foreground flowers are relatively close to the shooting position, that means focus stacking is required. For this picture, I used a 400mm focal length, and the settings were 1/250, f11, and 640 ISO. I did an 18 frame focus stack.
