This is a weevil from the island of New Guinea. I focus stacked the image with 18 frames, and the 'sharp' zone was from the immediate foreground to the last leg on our right. I wanted the background to go soft so there was nothing distracting behind the insect to divert attention away from the subject. I used an f/8 lens aperture which is generally considered the sharpest aperture on a lens. Soft lighting was ideal; diffused light shows texture and detail much more than harsh direct sunlight. I used a 50mm macro lens for the shot, and of course a tripod. My ISO was 100.
