This narrow gorge is called Leichtensteinklamm, a unique natural formation in the mountains in Austria. It was developed for tourists; there is a safe walkway that allows a person to walk the length of the mint green river bordered by towering sheer cliffs. Here you can take striking images of white limestone and black shale, waterfalls, and beautiful repetitive rock contours that reminded me of the slot canyons in Arizona. In contrast with the unusual color of the water, the results are quite compelling. For this shot, I used a 50mm focal length on a 24-105mm lens, and the settings were 1/80, f/4.0, and 3200 ISO. I wanted to use a smaller lens aperture to guarantee complete depth of field, but I didn't have the light. I didn't want to increase the ISO more than 3200 for this kind of nature image. I moved back as much as possible without adversely affecting the composition, because this helped me maintain the DOF to insure everything was sharp throughout the image.
