In Danang, Vietnam, my photo tour group visited a master painter of traditional theater masks. I found this to be particularly interesting because I collect masks from all over the world. For this portrait showing the artist at work, I used a 16-35mm wide angle from a low perspective, and the camera settings were 1/80, f/5.0, and 1600 ISO. We turned off the room lights to mute the background, forcing all the attention on the foreground. Beneath the paint is paper mache supported by cleverly constructed pieces of slivered bamboo.
