Rhinoceros beetle

We are so accustomed to seeing out of focus backgrounds behind wildlife, birds, and in macro images like insects. In fact, if the backgrounds are sharp, it looks artificial. We never see out of focus backgrounds with our eyes, ,though, so it's a bit strange to think of complete depth of field as unreal or artificial. There are two ways to do a picture like this. First, you can use focus stacking, and second, you can combine the subject and the sharp background in Photoshop. I used both methods. I focus stacked the insect, and then I combined that image in Photoshop with the tropical forest. This is a rhinoceros beetle, and it was about 3 inches long. Imagine if it were the size of a dinosaur!
