Temple of Hathor

This is the interior of the Temple of Hathor in Dendara, Egypt. The original colors protected from the sun and the elements for 2100 years are still remarkably vivid. To dramatize and elongate the huge columns, I used a Sigma f/1.8 14mm wide angle lens positioned right at their base. The super large maximum aperture of this lens makes it heavy to carry and voluminous in my camera backpack, but in low light environments it means you don't need a tripod. Of course, in so many temples, castles, museums, and cathedrals, tripods are not allowed so this lens is extremely valuable. The settings were 1/640, f/6.3, and 2000 ISO.
