Tower of Giraffes

I photographed this tower of giraffes in the Masai Mara Conservancy in Kenya. At the time I was attracted to the soft, low angled side light that illuminated each giraffe. But it's also cool how they were all looking in the same direction. I assume they had spotted a threat such as a lion that might have been uncomfortably close. My focal length was 312mm, and the settings were 1/1000, f/9 and 1250 ISO. I use daylight white balance when shooting outdoors because at sunrise and sunset, the colors I see on the LCD screen are accurate with respect to how I perceive the scene with my eyes. If you shoot on AWB, the golden tones have been 'corrected' to white light, and the magic of low angled sunlight is lost. Yes, you can bring it back in ACR or Lightroom, but you won't see the beautiful color palette at the time of shooting.
