Utah landscape

This is Factory Butte in Utah that I photographed last Spring. Way back in the 70's when I was first starting out in photography, I learned from the great landscape photographer, David Muench, about the juxtaposition of prominent foregrounds with dynamic backgrounds. It's an artistic and graphically pleasing arrangement of elements, and I've been using this technique for 50 years. Complete depth of field is essential for this to work. For this shot, I used a 24-105mm lens set to 67mm, and the settings were 1/200, f/22, and 640 ISO. I replaced the sky for drama. This is early morning light softened by a thin cloud layer in the east, just enough to give the foreground rocks a warm glow.
