I took this shot of hippos in the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Usually I don't like to shoot down on animals (that's why I'll never go on one of those huge tundra buggies in Canada to photograph polar bears -- you're just too high), but this situation is an exception. I was shooting from an elevated river bank, and it just worked perfectly. As cute as these guys look in this picture with those big, almost comical ears, more people are killed in Africa by hippopotamuses than any other animal. They are very aggressive, especially when out of water or with young. I used a Canon 500mm f/4 telephoto for this shot, and the settings were 1/1000, f/4.5, and 200 ISO.
