Much of northern Ethiopia is devoutly Christian. In Lalibela, this is rock-hewn St. George Church constructed 900 years ago in the 12 century. What you are seeing is what's left after thousands of workers chiseled rock away from the bedrock that became a church. In other words, this church consists of one solid rock. It is complete with several rooms inside that house manuscripts, paintings, and more.. For this exaggerated perspective, I used a 14mm wide angle lens, and the settings were 1/500, f11, and 2000 ISO. As I was composing the shot, a worshipper stepped outside and made the perfect focal point.
