Hanging around the camp in which I was staying for two nights to gain access to the Surma tribe here in Ethiopia was this extraordinary bird, an African paradise flycatcher. I tried so hard to capture it in flight, but it flew amongst the dense canopy of the trees rarely showing itself for a clear view. Only one time did it perch on a branch that gave me a clear shot . . . but only for a couple of seconds. When I return to Ethiopia next January with another photo tour group (Jan. 5 - 18, 2027), I will be looking for this bird and hoping to get a flight picture. I used a 500mm focal length for this image, and the settings were 1/3200, f/8, and 6400 ISO.
