One of the most unusual places on the planet to capture both beautiful and bizarre landscapes is the Danakil Depression. It is located in northeastern Ethiopia, and it is one of the lowest and hottest places on earth. It's worth the effort to get here, though, because the photography is truly remarkable. When I was there in 2019, I didn't have a drone. I'm leading another tour to Ethiopia in Jan. 2027, and this time I'm going to enjoy taking aerial perspectives of this alien landscape. The unique mineral deposits, the outrageous colors and shapes, the steam vents, and the insane geology of this place makes it one of the most compelling locations to visit and photograph. I used a 14mm Sigma f/1.8 wide angle lens to take this shot, and the settings were 1/400, f/16, and 1000 ISO.
