When shooting into the sun, the camera meter automatically gives you a silhouette because the brilliant light forces underexposure. That's what happened when this cheetah walked between my shooting position and the sun. Note the low angle. That occurred because the cat was walking on a small hill. Low perspectives give animals greater stature; it's a shooting situation I constantly look for in Africa. My settings were 1/3200, f/13, and 200 ISO. Graphically, I would have preferred a cleaner shot in which the cheetah were seen against the sun with no bushes. But the vegetation gives a sense of place. It's more real than a simple graphic shot.
