With birds you don't usually get close enough for head shots, but I photographed this hamerkop (hammerhead in English) in South Africa from a blind. My focal length for this uncropped image was 300mm which tells you how close this bird was to my shooting position. The camera settings were 1/320, f/7.1, and 6400 ISO. I eliminated noise using Topaz DeNoise, and now the image looks like I shot this with 200 ISO -- that's how good the Topaz plugin is. I waited for the bird to turn its head before I took the picture. That provided excellent depth of field so most of the feathers were sharp, and it also revealed the unique head of this intriguing bird.
