This is one of the amazing buildings in Dubai. For this ultra dramatic perspective, I stood on the sidewalk and photographed up with a 35mm focal length on a 24-105mm lens. At first I thought of using my 14mm, but that pushed the building away and made the composition less impressive. My settings were 1/320, f/11, and 500 ISO. When shooting a subject that is perfectly symmetrical, it's important to stand dead-center on the subject and to make sure the image is perfectly balanced. For example, the exact amount of sky must show on both sides of the image and all of the horizontal lines have to be parallel with the top and bottom of the frame. When taking the picture, you have to critically examine the framing. If the balance in the image isn't quite right, the picture won't look right.
