In yesterday’s post of the woman making a floating floral arrangement, the photograph shows exactly what I saw. At that shooting angle, the sheen on the water’s surface from a foggy sky made the pond look almost white. However, from a drone’s perspective hovering about 35 feet above, the muddy water of the shallow body of water looked an ugly brown. In Photoshop, I darkened it to add drama and visual punch. You can see the original brown color inside the rings of water lilies. It would have been too difficult to darken those areas, but in the end I like the way the colors played out here. There were five women in the group, and I took many compositions in which I’d include all five floral designs, then only two, and so on. For this image, I used the 70mm built-in lens, and the settings were 1/730, f/2.8, and 800 ISO.
