In Bali, where my photo tour is now, we had a fun session with some kids at a waterfall. They played, splashed, and jumped for our cameras. The key was using a fast enough shutter speed to freeze not only the movements of the boys but to freeze the falling water as well. My settings were 1/1250, f/5.0, and 400 ISO. We had to stand in the middle of the shallow river to get this shot. I'd asked everyone to bring sandals or waterproof shoes just for the occasion. The real challenge was the direct and harsh sunlight, so in post-processing I had to lighten the shadows and mute the highlights.
