This is Handara Gate in Bali. It looks ancient, but it was actually built in the 1970's modeled after traditional and ancient architecture. It's become an Instagram photo spot, and Balinese photographers are there to assist toward that end for the many tourists that come here. One of the techniques they use, very cleverly, is to hold up a mirror to create a realistic reflection as if there were a still body of water in front of the gate. Since I had to do HDR here due to the extreme contrast from backlighting, the mirror idea didn't work for me. Also, by placing the small mirror right under the lens, the reflected image was less sharp than the portion of the photo above the reflection. So, I made a 7-frame HDR composite to balance the highlights and shadows, and then I used Photoshop to create the mirror effect. I used a 24-105mm lens, and the settings were 1/500, f/5.0, and 100 ISO.
