The finale of the Jember Fashion Carnival in East Java, Indonesia, is rivals the famous carnivals in Brazil. The costumes are out of this world, the face painting and makeup is as good as it gets, and the participants really know how to pose to show off their creations. My photo tour group were seated in the VIP bleachers, so the parade came right toward us. For the entire event, I used a 100-500mm Canon telephoto so I had the flexibility of composition. This shot was taken with a 300mm focal length, and the settings were 1/400, f/11, and 800 ISO. Fortunately we had an overcast sky for most of the day, and that made a huge difference with respect to contrast.
