I always thought it would be so cool to photograph two knights in a foggy forest and in full armor as if they were returning from the Crusades. I actually thought about setting this up, but it would be too expensive and too challenging to make happen. So, I did it in Photoshop. I photographed the knights at a Renaissance Faire. Behind them in the original was a crowd of spectators. One of the knights was holding a broken wooden lance that resulted from a jousting competition. So, I bought a sword on eBay, photographed it, and replaced the lance with the sword. I photographed the forest in the background in Belgium and created the fog by painting white with the brush tool on a lowered opacity. The hardest part was selecting the feathers. I worked at 600% and essentially made the selection pixel by pixel. I have several variations of this composite; this is one of my two favorites.
