My photo tour group was having breakfast at our lodge in South Africa when we spotted a leopard drinking from the pond just below the dining area. Leopards are the biggest prize in Africa, at least for me, so we quickly pushed breakfast aside and my guide raced down to the pond . Amazingly, the cat was still drinking as if it were waiting for us. It would drink, look around, drink again, and repeat this cycle for about 10 minutes. I leaned out the side of the Land Rover, trying to shoot from as low an angle as possible. I used a 500mm focal length, and the settings were 1/500, f/11, and 1250. I used a fast frame rate -- 20 fps -- to make sure I captured every position of the moving tongue.
