The picture of rice terraces in Vietnam I posted yesterday shows how beautiful their graphic design can be especially as seen from a drone. This shot taken just a few miles away shows that many generations of farmers have carved entire mountains by hand using only a simple Kalinga axe just so they could increase the production of rice. The Herculean effort to do that leaves one speechless. In many areas the terraces go on for miles. I shot this picture with my drone from a height of 392 feet, or 120 meters, which is the maximum legal height I’m allowed to fly. I used a 24mm lens, and the settings were 1/160, f/1.8, and 200 ISO. Sometimes when the drone is a significant distance away, it can be disorienting as to choosing a direction for returning to the takeoff point. So, I use the RTH (Return To Home) button on the controller, and automatically the drone returns and lands within 4 inches of its launch location. It is incredibly precise. I don’t know how we ever lived without GPS!
