This is a sambar deer in India still nursing her fawn. The fawns stay by their mother's side for up to two. years. The background is busy, but this is a typical forest in Ranthambhore National Park. I used a 100-500mm zoom, and the focal length was only 167mm. The animals were very close to our jeep, and even though the mother watched us, she seemed relaxed in the knowledge that vehicles today are no threat. My camera settings were 1/1250, f/6.3, and 6400 ISO. I shot this picture in the early morning when lighting conditions were still muted.
