San Marino is the third smallest country in Europe after Vatican City and Monaco. It is 23 square miles, and it is surrounded by the Italian countryside. Everywhere in the world, the blue hour is always the best time to photograph cities and architecture. To get this shot I climbed a lot of stairs to gain the perfect vantage and then waited for the right time. In post-processing, I tweaked the shadows, the contrast, and the color to make the sky appear more dramatic than it did to my eyes. I shot this with a 50mm lens -- very unusual for me -- and the settings were one full second, f/2.5, and 200 ISO.
