I photographed these snow geese at sunrise in Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in November when thousands of birds migrate through New Mexico. Sometimes it's difficult to get a clean, graphic shot because there are so many birds in flight at the same time. I used a 500mm focal length here, and the camera settings were 1/500, f/7.1, and 100 ISO. My white balance was daylight; had I been using auto white balance, and so many photographers do, the camera would have 'corrected' the golden color to white and the beautiful colors we love about sunrise and sunset would have been gone. This is correctable in post-processing, but I don't want to be forced to color correct hundreds of images.
