I photographed this wild, baby orangutan close to where my boat docked in front of the lodge I was using in Indonesian Borneo. The large mother was sitting behind her offspring -- it was like a welcoming committee. The baby's hand was resting on the wooden boardwalk I was walking on, so I darkened the wood so the picture wouldn't look like the primates were captive. Articulating screens are great on the backs of our cameras because they can be manipulated so we can see a close-to-the-ground subject without laying on the ground or contorting our neck into a painful position. I used a 100-500mm telephoto for this shot, and the settings were 1/160, f/7.1, and 1000 ISO.
