I arranged a cowboy shoot several years ago in Oregon, and with many of the images I took artistic license in post-processing and introduced diffusion, excessive color saturation, texture, and various types of abstractions. I used to experiment with tons of filters. If you like filter effects, the best program is Filter Forge. It includes (and I’m not exaggerating) 14,000 + filters. For this shot, I used a Canon 100-400mm zoom, and the settings were 1/125, f/8, and 640 ISO. The dust the horses kicked up created a very cool atmosphere to the image.
