This is a drone shot of a river and the base of a mountain from 355 feet in altitude in Iceland. What is so interesting about this type of situation is that the remarkable design of the rivulets and sand bars that make up the river can't be seen from the ground. In fact, standing on the ground the river looks non-photogenic and mundane. You wouldn't even grab your camera. But as soon as the drone becomes airborne, the remarkable artistry in nature is revealed. I shot this with a 22mm lens, and the settings were 1/800, f/2.8, and 200 ISO. From a drone, depth of field is irrelevant, thus I can use large lens apertures which lower the ISO and increase the shutter speed. My next Iceland drone photo tour is scheduled for August, 2026.
