This is a gerenuk, a long necked antelope I photographed in Kenya. What's really interesting about these animals is they don't drink water. They get all the hydration they need from the leaves, fruits, and flowers they eat. In essence, this species is drought-proof. I used a 500mm f/4 telephoto to take this portrait, and the settings were 1/400, f/5.0, and 200 ISO. I took a second shot in which the animal was off-center, more in accordance with the Rule of Thirds, but in the end I Iike this composition more. There is nothing wrong with placing the subject dead center in the frame.

Skip Kask - Jim: I think this image would look better if it was portrait view. Just my opinion.
