I took this picture exactly 50 years ago today during America’s bicentennial celebration in 1976. I used a medium format film camera, the Mamiya RB 67 –the predecessor to the RZ – and I took the shot from a cliff overlooking the ocean on the Palos Verdes peninsula in the southern part of Los Angeles. At that time, I was using Kodak Ektachrome 64 transparency film. The settings were unrecorded; I think the lens was 250mm.
FYI: For those of you who like interesting words like I do, the word that describes a 250th celebration is semiquincentennial. Happy Birthday America.
