On the way to photograph more Gelada baboons in the Simien Mountains here in Ethiopia, we encountered two klipspringers. I had never seen them before, so it was exciting to photograph a new species. I took this picture from the 4-wheel drive vehicle — the animals walked parallel to the road on a slope allowing me to get some wonderful images. It was 8:30 in the morning, and the front lighting was perfect. I used my Canon 100-500mm zoom set to 451mm, and the settings were 1/800, f/8, and 400 ISO.
