On one of my trips to Morocco, we passed a sign in the Sahara Desert that read: From here to Timbuktu is 52 days by camel. I can't imagine enduring that kind of trek, but this picture reminded me of that. I took this shot with a 280mm focal length, and my settings were 1/2000, f/11, and 400 ISO. My photo tour group and I were driving along one of the major highways in the southern part of the country when we spotted this at quite a distance. I couldn't have asked for a better juxtaposition of elements, and the unusual contrast between the lake with the waterless desert made an interesting dichotomy.
