Here is another drone shot from Iceland. When photographing falling water, it's very easy to blow out the detail in the water itself. Whitewater is several f/stops lighter than the surrounding landscape, and the last thing you want is to lose detail and texture in the water. Therefore, I underexpose the images by 2/3 f/stop. This helps to protect the detail in the highlights and, at the same time, it's not too much of an underexposure that it increases noise. The settings for this image were 1/400, f/2.8, and 200 ISO. Note that from a height like this, depth of field isn't relevant. Everything will be sharp at any lens aperture. Therefore, I tend to shoot wide open so the shutter speed will be fast enough to freeze anything moving. If I want to blur the water, though, the drone is so stable that I can use a long exposure.
